True Tramm Trunk, Juhu, Mumbai

Have been to True Tramm Trunk multiple times over the last few months. Always had a good time!

Killer music, cool crowd and vibe. Well managed, even though crowded. My new fav place alongwith Glocal Junction. Their house cocktails are terrific. Must try. Good VFM food portions too. Quite a few beers on tap to choose from.

A bit hipster'ish though. Beer in a lota and Cocktails in those desi daaru kind of bottles. But that's ok I'd say cos of the positives. Waiting to go again.

Soda Water. Andheri W, Mumbai

A decent but loud, reasonably priced restobar to have some fun on commercial music (including Bollywood played intermittently) if you are with your group.

Soda Water is huge with different seating styles. Loved the bar at the centre, which is quite unique. Wish the AC was more powerful. I think the AC wasn't working in some sections. Crowd was the younger kind, mostly in their 20s and early 30s. Service was pretty much prompt.

The Watermelon and Kaffir Lime cocktail and Tamarind Margarita had by the better half were both pretty average and could have be more potent. I stuck to G&T throughout.

Tried the Cheese Garlic Bread (Good!) and Onion Rings (Toooo oily.. USA must raid it. Avoid!). The Gardiniera pizza was excellent... fresh ingredients and perfectly crisp.

Might visit again only if my friends who love Bollywood music join in.

Soho Tapas Bar, 4 Bungalows, Andheri, Mumbai

Had a lovely time at Soho Tapas Bar last night. Cosy and dimly lit (perfect for a quiet birthday dinner), the place was fairly full for a weekday.

For drinks, we tried the Cosmo Fizz (Vodka, Triple Sec, Cranberry juice), Negroni (Campari, Gin, Vermouth) and some beers. Both the cocktails were impeccably made. Had Negroni for the first time, and loved it.

In Small Plates, the Quinoa and Risotto Arancini Balls lived up to the many recommendations it received. The Chipotle Cottage Cheese, had hardly, or no Chipotle, and was just cottage cheese tossed in the usual tangy BBQ sauce. Although palatable, it was not something I was expecting. The flavourful veg and cheese filling of the Quesadillas was brilliant.

The highlight of the meal was the Inspirational Veg Lasagne Kolhapuri Style. It was outstanding! (Appam Lasagne layered with Kohlapuri Style Stew, topped with cheese). Initially I thought it might just be an attempt to create a fancy fusion dish.. nevertheless ordered it, and wasn't disappointed one bit. The filling between the appam layers was mind blowing, perfectly spicy and just the right flavours. I'd visit Soho again just to have this! The other half called for the Greek Veg Tangy Stew with Quinoa and Couscous Medley and loved it as well.

With no place for desserts, we called it an evening. One hearty meal at a place that's@ already calling for a second visit.

A point to note is that Soho refers to 'tapas' as the small plates they serve which are inspired by the food of India, South-East Asia, Mexico, Middle East and Europe, and not in its strictest 'Spanish' sense.

The Beer Cafe, Veera Desai, Andheri W

Visited a Beer Cafe or the first time. Always thought they brew their own beers. But it turned out otherwise... They simply stock a variety of Indian and international beers from various brands (apart from other alcohol too). Fewer on the tap, many by the bottle. They didn't have Bira and Fullers London Pride, which I wanted to have. Priced pretty much like beers at other pubs. Although some of the international beers were a tad too expensive.

Ambience wise, a good place. Was empty by Andheri standards on a Friday. Probably cos the AC wasn't working that day.

Orders a couple of starters.. Paneer Chilli and Onion Rings. Both excellent. Prompt service throughout.

They have got good potential to pull in some of the Andheri crowd towards themselves, but they aren't putting in that effort I guess. Not sure if the party regulars are aware that Beer Cafe is up and running in their area.

THC, Oshiwara, Mumbai

Freshest and genuine ingredients, huge portions and delicious food is what best describes THC.

Highlight is their Chipotle Sauce which comes in three levels of spiciness and a part of all their dishes.

Had the TexMex Nachos which was just perfect (loved that cheese on top) and BBQ Cottage Cheese Panini, which was much larger than I thought. Generous amount of BBQ paneer filling and that spicy Chipotle Sauce went together so well. Wanted to try the Rice Bowl but got a bit full, so saved it for this next visit. Can't wait.

ZOOBAR, Vile Parle West, Mumbai - Review

Had read about Zoobar through people's swarm check-ins on Twitter TL.. friend says let's go for pre-party drinks. That was a mistake. Zoobar should have been the place to party last Friday.

The place is quite big, with wild animals all around, in form of statues :). Well stocked bar, and a decent menu to select appetisers from.

We had a couple of drinks and starters (cheese garlic bread and meat tacos, which friend said was excellent) as the crowd started trickling in. Posh, well dressed people.. even though it was a Friday (knowing that people usually come to party after office). That's when the music was picking and we realised it wasn't the best time to leave, but had to.

Will visit again soon, this time after 10.30 pm till the end ;-)
